Meet Colossus, a 3D Printed Robot. It's Cute.
What do you get when you combine a crazy idea, insane creativity and 435 3D printed, hand-painted parts? Designer Michael Sng, founder of Machination Studio, calls it Codename Colossus. We just call it “Wow!”
Sng designed this working robot pulling inspiration from toys, action figures and his own military experience in the Singapore Armed Forces. The printing and delivery for all 435 pieces took about three weeks. Servos, motors and LED drive the electronic and mechanical motion. What you end up with is an amazing feat of design and ingenuity, made possible through 3D printing.
We could go on and on about it, but as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Check out the blog post on Shapeways for an interview with the designer and to watch the incredible video of Colossus in action.
